  • Diskopunk at Debaser Strand
    19:00 -23:59
    07/11/2018
Debaser Hornstulls Strand, Hornstulls strand, Stockholm, Sweden

The singles “Antonio America”, “Fire” and “I Love You” spun the disco ball 2016-2017. Now Diskopunk is back with the new single “Soaked” and with an the EP release scheduled for January 2019.

Unscrupulous jazz disco with dirt under the nails, promising that every song is a killer hit. Diskopunk is liberating self-confident and cooky, and they definitely have attitude for it. Since the debut in 2016, the band has made a lasting impression, especially on the live scene. Six crazy gig as a support band to Mando Diao in the fall of 2017 only to begin kicking on the band’s self-esteem.

Activist and artist Maria Aljochina from Russian Pussy Riot, a new exhibition from Western Sahara by photographer Johan Persson and journalist Anna Roxvall, movies, talks and concerts are some of the events of the Free Speech Festival 13-15 November. What is your voice worth? In three days you will be able to dig into power and the freedom to self expression. In detail – what happens to your voice on the internet? And in the big picture – what are the key elements in the global arena who have the power to defend freedom of expression around the world? Meet prosecutors, journalists, artists, writers and activists who together form all the voices that shape freedom of speech today and beyond. The festival ends with the Writers in Prison Day, with the theme, Iran, organized by Svenska PEN. See the full program below!

Is there a place for un-staged photography in art?

Katri Naukkarinen (b. 1984) is an artist working within the extended field of photography, exploring the world through the lens: a camera travels with her everywhere. The meaningful can be found in the surrounding reality, in vizualizing the invisible parts of the immediate environment, in one’s own reflections and examination of those. Seemingly light and easy snapshot method that Naukkarinen uses in her work is a result of years of learning and contemplating.
“Taking photographs should be meaningful here and now, not unlike existence”

    YYY

YYY is an experimental zine and exhibition concept published and curated by Katri Naukkarinen. For each issue two photographic thinkers, besides Naukkarinen, are invited to have a conversation of sorts, within the pages of a tabloid magazine.

The fourth issue of YYY, YYY4, will be published at the Finlandsinstitutet’s Galleri November 15, 2018 at the opening of the exhibition with the same name. The participants for the 4th issue are, besides Katri Naukkarinen herself, Hallgerður Hallgrímsdóttir (www.hallgerdur.com) from Iceland and Linn Phyllis Seeger (www.linn-phyllis-seeger.com) from Germany. In addition to the zine, works from all the three artists will be displayed at the exhibition.

    About collaboration

The process around YYY is a reminder about the power of collaboration. There are many forms of collaboration and creativity linked into the event in November: collaboration between the three artists in creating YYY4; Naukkarinen is artist-in-residency in Stockholm in November 2018 looking for new collaborative partners and working on her projects; the events and residency period are the result of the collaboration between CFF – Centrum för fotografi, Malongen / NKF – Nordic Art Association – SwedenPhotographic Gallery Hippolyte – Helsinki, Finland / Photographic Artists’ Association in Finland and Finlandsinstitutet Stockholm; the musician Lau Nau (Laura Naukkarinen, www.launau.com), who performs at the opening of the exhibition, represents the power of collaboration of sisterhood.

    Q&A
    What is Wonderland?
Wonderland is all about limitless possibilities. Wonderland is a place where assumptions are challenged and imagination is ignited. Everyone attending will discover their own wonderland and be able to relive the experience for the rest of their lives.
Wonderland is this year’s theme. TEDx Themes are purposefully broad, abstract and open to interpretation. For example, last year’s theme, Lighthouse, was about finding your way in the world, and how we all shine brighter together.

    What can I expect?
More than a handful of inspiring speakers will share their ideas in live and recorded TED Talks – all mixed with live entertainment, snacks, drinks and plenty of chance to mingle with other Stockholm creatives.

Can I know the topic of the Talks beforehand?
No, that’s half the fun. An element of a TEDxStockholm event, is the element of surprise. Our Speakers Team have combed through countless applications and selected a wide variety of topics and speakers coming from all walks of life. Their aim to always provide a wide-range of topics to open your horizons and stimulate your brain.

Ok, can I at least know the speakers beforehand?
Not for the time being. They will start revealing some of the names of the speakers closer to the date. However, it important to remember that TED talks are not so much about the messenger as it is about the message itself. Sometimes the most amazing insights come from the most unexpected places.

    Good things to know:
+ Regular ticket price: 500 SEK.
+ The Talks will be in English
+ There will be coffee, snacks and food at the event.

    Tele2 Arena, Johanneshov, Sweden

Nitro Circus’ biggest moments, and some of its most notorious stacks, have come from the mind of action sports icon Travis Pastrana. The Nitro Circus ringleader has an uncanny ability to encourage the best riders on the planet to go big or go home… In some cases despite their better judgment! With the all-new You Got This Tour, who knows what’s gonna happen! Watch Travis and company ramp up the shenanigans with the greatest, stupidest, funniest show in Nitro history.

“Nitro Circus is turning me loose!” Travis explains. “I’m throwing all of my best, and worst, ideas into one incredible two-hour show. Everything I’ve ever wanted to see live, we’re taking on the road. Expect bigger, brand-new ramps, even crazier stunts and so much more. It’s going to be unreal. Look out, though. There might be a few rough landings.”

Nitro Circus: You Got This Tour will feature the best athletes in FMX, BMX, Scooter and Inline, including multiple X Games medalists and several Nitro World Games champions. Travis Pastrana will both lead this all-star international roster and challenge it to push the envelope in true Nitro high-risk, high-reward fashion. With all this plus a slew of new outrageous contraptions and more, You Got This is the Nitro Circus show you’ve been waiting for.

Also new for You Got This is the Nitro Club experience. In addition to getting premiere seats, Nitro Club pass holders will have the opportunity to meet some of the athletes during an autograph signing session and afterwards have the chance to watch pre-show riding practice — hosted by Travis Pastrana. Nitro Club pass holders will also receive a souvenir laminate as well as a chance to win cool Nitro Circus swag.

The ballet is the brilliant work by shining composer, Tchaikovsky, and has been presented for the audience for centuries. Marius Petipa and Lev Ivano’s choreography give both soloists and the entire dance ensemble a place to shine.
