On their 10th wedding anniversary on June 13th, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden marked another very special milestone with the christening of their now five month old daughter. The little princess was named Ines Marie Lilian Silvia at the ceremony held in the Royal Chapel of the Drottningholm Palace.
Princess Ines wore the family’s historic christening gown, which was first used in 1906. The cotton and lace heirloom gown carries the embroidered names and dates of each royal child baptized in it.
Princess Ines was bestowed the title of Duchess of Västerbotten, but following the King’s 2019 streamlining of the royal house, the princess will not be called “Her Royal Highness”. She is 8th in line to the throne in succession, though.
Princess Sofia chose a bright yellow dress and headband for the occasion, something the royal observers noted with delight. The sunny day was full of warmth, traditions and celebration.
