Welcome to The Film Club and the screening of Sophie Fiennes’ film Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami (2017). Director talk and party after the screening. In collaboration with CinemAfrica.

Grace Jones is a style icon and a living legend on the club scene and in popular culture. Sophie Fiennes’ intimate portrayal follows the star in the process of recording a new album, with material based on personal experiences. Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami challenges the documentary tradition that has generated countless one-dimensional mythologising portraits of women artists. Fiennes cuts from glamorous stage performances in New York and Paris, to informal chats with friends and family on Jamaica, and brings the audience closer to the human being Grace Jones.

After the screening, there will be a talk with the director, Sophie Fiennes, followed by a party in tribute to Grace Jones, featuring ImOnARoof, at 20–00 in the Restaurant and Bar.

The rapper, who released ‘Damn’ earlier this year, will be joined by James Blake for February shows in Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London, where he’ll play two nights at the O2 Arena. Tickets are on sale at 9am on October 6.

The European leg of the tour, meanwhile, also includes stops in Frankfurt, Cologne, Amsterdam, Paris, Antwerp, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and Berlin.
