By focusing on music and by choosing fewer big fireworks the celebration will be more sustainable. This year’s New Year celebration has changed character since last year with fewer roads closed to traffic. Instead, a pyro-musical will be set at Slottskajen, and you can watch it from Norrbro and Gustav Adolf’s square. Music with Swedish artists, ranging from classical to house, pop and rock, synchronised with colourful pyrotechnics will create a breathtaking show. A map over the area and more information about availability and roads closed for traffic can be found here. It starts at 23:30 and entrance is free!

Their bars offer the best seats and champagne to toast the New Year.
You can also book a table at The Solliden restaurant that has a special New Year’s menu. Their café Skansen Terrassen is also open between 20.00 – 01-00.

    • Pyromusical in Stockholm City
      23:30 -02:00
      01/01/2020-01/01/2020
Gustav Adolfs torg 22, 111 52 Stockholm, Sweden
new year's eve in Stockholm fireworks norrbro castle

The city of Stockholm itself will not be setting a display of fireworks as previous years, instead it will invite us to a great pyro-musical New Year celebration at Norrbro and Gustav Adolfs Torg.

    Jarl Ingvarsson / Tuukka Tammisaari
    January 17–February 16, 2020

Opening in the presence of the artists
    Thursday January 16, at 5–7pm

    Jarl Ingvarsson: FABRICAE

Ingvarsson’s artistic work stem from curiosity and an exploration of painting as a media, but also of the material that he works on. In the exhibition at Galerie Forsblom in Stockholm, Ingvarsson has painted on different kinds of textiles; sheets, fiber cloths, sun-blinds and more. Liberated from the traditional stretched and framed canvas, Ingvarsson’s paintings are unobstructed. With lightness he moves freely between figurative expressionism and abstraction.

Ingvarsson (b. 1955) has been exhibited extensively in museums and galleries. His works are represented in collections such as Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Borås Museum of Modern Art, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Malmö Art Museum, Sweden and in private collections.

    Tuukka Tammisaari: Ricochet

Tuukka Tammisaari’s paintings include references to art history, personal events, memories and observations of nature at large. With an assembly of naïve art, neo-expressionism and playfulness, the motifs and the mixing of color, are equally important in his artworks. The title of the exhibition ‘Ricochet’ is about immediacy, unintended effects and consequences.

Tammisaari’s work is represented in collections at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, the Leiden University Medical Center, Netherlands, and in private collections. The artist (b. 1984) is based in Helsinki, Finland.
