Stockholm suburb Bandhagen is celebrating it’s community spirit and the richness of local creativity on BandDagen, which will be held for the 4th time now on 1st of June.
BandDagen is a grassroots, community-driven, all-inclusive celebration with a second-hand market, art fair, tasty homecookin’ and music. It’s a local celebration, but all are always welcome to set up a table and participate. There will be a great selection of art, handicrafts, second-hand clothes and household items from 80+ sellers spread out around Bandhagen Centrum. It promises to be a fun, laid-back festival/market with a welcoming, friendly southside vibe.
DJs Caio and Mic will be providing a familiar yet exotic and funky soundscape and you can sample home-cooking from Angola, Brazil, Congo and beyond. The day celebrates the diversity and richness of Bandhagen and its formidable multi-cultural flavour from all corners of the world.
– Creating a strong and deeply-rooted community is not only festive and fun, but currently more essential than ever, says Bandhagen profile Andy Frank, who hails from the US himself and is co-creating the BandDagen celebrations together with Luciana Amado Sandberg.
– If we don’t create a sense of community here ourselves, who will? People should feel proud of their neighbourhood.
The day also marks the opening of the latest addition to the centrum, Bengal Diner that will be serving Indian food.
– The locals have been curious to see what we have got planned for this space and we are really looking forward to bringing our food to the people. We are so happy to see the community coming together for BandDagen, what a perfect day for us to get started, says owner Anwar Uddin.
Join the BandDagen celebrations on the 1st of June from 10am to 5pm in Bandhagen Centrum.
