Charging people with positive energy

I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Barak Baaiz, the Restaurant Manager and Martin Enqvist, the F&B Manager at the Scandic Alvik hotel.

Over the years Barak Baaiz has developed a lot of professional experience working in hotel restaurants, banquet halls, conferences and À la carte. His own keen interest in food, drinks and service has helped him achieve his goals by increasing the happiness at the Scandic Alvik hotel. He has combined his professional work with his hobby – improving the ambience and making the guests feel more pleased about the service. Barak’s social abilities helped him work with his staff to accomplish the objectives that they set for themselves.

Scandic is a good environment to work in teams, because things come so natural when it’s about helping each other to do the best job, communicate openly and see that everyone is happy and content at the end of the day, Barak says.

What makes Scandic Alvik so special is that the employees get the opportunity to develop on a career-inspiring path, being a part of a multi-cultural society, meeting and understanding different cultures and the needs of the guests.

The hotel is nicely located, near public transport and also close to exits of the main highways. The place is close to the city, yet having the advantage of avoiding the traffic and the city’s noise in this peaceful setting.

Alvik Scandic has 324 rooms and meeting facilities for up to 300 people. The building was built in 2002 and in 2011 the meeting department was opened. The hotel is very close to the nature, having the lake Mälaren very near, where people can enjoy with the family, have a picnic, or work out in a peaceful environment.

A delightful way to enjoy a whole week is to enjoy our bar and our restaurant, serving the best lunch buffet in the area. What is more entertaining is that on Tuesday and Friday between 17:00-19:00 we have live music in the lobby area, where guests can enjoy and have fun, meeting new people from distinct cultures and interesting backgrounds.

They have the possibility to choose from various types of food, meaning that even those with different allergies, lactose intolerance, or who are vegetarians, finding diverse types of bread, yoghurt, vegetables, cheese and so on. Coffee is an extra free service. Those who are in a rush can even take away the food in plastic boxes. We serve lunch only in the weekdays, but having the biggest and most popular salad buffet in the area, and the guests can also enjoy desserts.

Scandic has been a pioneer in environmental work since 1993.

A particular benefit with Scandic is that we have replaced bottled water with our own Scandic Water in all restaurants. We have 120 Svanen-approved hotels in the Nordic countries. We have free loan bicycles at all hotels. Accessibility is one of the most important things for us. For this, we have also won several international awards. Scandic in Society is an initiative at all hotels where we want to make a difference in our world. This may involve inviting night-patrolling parents or police for a cup of coffee, or collecting Christmas presents to children who have no opportunity to celebrate Christmas, explains Martin Enqvist, F&B Manager at Scandic Alvik.

Another excellent benefit at Alvik is that everyone is welcome to enjoy our delicious fresh food without staying at the hotel. We have various offers every week with good prices and a highly professional service, continues Martin Enqvist.

Anyone who really likes a homey environment, but at the same time wants to get good service and good prices, will like Scandic hotels.
