The “Istituto Grandi Marchi” visited Stockholm last month – “Istituto Grandi Marchi” is the result of the determination and enthusiasm of eighteen of the most important Italian wineries to promote the culture and commercialisation of Italian high quality wine on world markets. Your Living City was there at a unique master class where we had the opportunity to meet the representatives of these wineries and try their best wines, so we can give our recommendations to you. Keep reading to discover these amazing wines and learn more about Grandi Marchi.

The Grandi Marchi, a collaboration of winemaking visionaries from across Italy, has worked tirelessly and with great enthusiasm to support the industry’s
highest quality and distinctive winemaking culture.
Formed out of an informal meeting between like-minded colleagues and friends, the founders of Grandi March recognised that by joining forces, they could better promote and enhance the great wines of Italy.
Today, they’ve transcended their individual aims to achieve a common goal and, thanks to their efforts, Italy’s best wines have both stronger positions in established markets and promising foundations in emerging ones.

Made up of 18 prestigious Italian wine families, the Istituto Grandi Marchi promotes the country’s best bottles and producers on a global scale.
• All are family-owned brands.
• Each member has been in operation for at least 25 years and in some cases for centuries.
• All own their estate vineyards, which stand out for their history and enduring traditions:
• All are recognized worldwide for their superior quality and production practices.
• Each is considered an innovator with a profound vision.
• All are key players representing Italy’s most highly praised wines.
• All are industry leaders whose peers emulate their work.
• All share the same values and strategies, and support collaborative efforts.
• All are committed to a continued focus on education, innovation and
developing markets.
• Each member exemplifies the best of their region.

ANNAMARIA CLEMENTI FRANCIACORTA RISERVA D.O.C.G.

DISTRICT & REGION OF ORIGIN: Franciacorta

GRAPE VARIETIES AND %’S: 67% Chardonnay 15% Pinot noir 9% Pinot blanc

ABOUT THE WINE: The grapes are hand-picked and placed in small crates. Each bunch is selected by expert eyes and hands, and then goes through an exclusive “berry spa,” a special whirlpool-like wash for grape bunches, consisting of three soaking tanks, followed by thorough drying. The base wines are obtained exclusively from free-run juice. Alcoholic fermentation takes place only in small oak casks, made of selected wood seasoned for a minimum of 3 years. There, the wine remains on its own lees for six more months, during which malolactic fermentation takes place. Only wine from the best barrels of the 22 base wines is drawn off to go into Annamaria Clementi. A pair of flying tanks transfers the wine by gravity flow from the barrels to the blending tank. Unhurried lees contact continues for more than 8 years to shape the wine’s unique sensory profile. An absolute Franciacorta. Disgorgement takes place in the absence of oxygen using a unique system designed and patented by Ca’ del Bosco. The procedure avoids oxidative stress and the need for additional sulfites, making Ca’ del Bosco Franciacortas purer, more appealing and longer lived. Finally, every bottle is marked individually to ensure its traceability.
