System Of A Down @ Globen
Ericsson Globe, Stockholm, SwedenThe American-Armenian band formed in 1994, with only 5 albums, have gathered a dedicated fan base all over the world and never fail to deliver an astonishing performance.
The band has achieved tremendous commercial success with five studio albums, three of which went directly into first place on American Billboard’s album list. System Of A Down has been nominated for 4 Grammy Awards and the song “B.Y.O.B.” won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance 2006. The band has sold over 40 million records worldwide.
SOAD’s music has been labeled in many ways, but the band doesn’t care about labels. Here’s how singer Serj Tankian says: “To me, System of a Down isn’t a progressive band. But it’s not a typical pop project, obviously. We definitely pay attention to the music to make sure it’s not something anyone’s heard before.” Bassist Shavo Odadjian says: “You can compare us to whoever you want. I don’t care. Comparisons and labels have no effect on this band. Fact is fact: We are who we are and they are who they are.”
