The Warning deliver an electrifying set at Gröna Lund

The Warning brought their electrifying rock energy to Gröna Lund on a lovely summer evening, and we were of course there to witness it.

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, The Warning began as a family affair as the sister trio Daniela, Paulina and Alejandra Villarreal started making noise at an age when most kids were busy navigating schoolyard friendships. Their cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman went viral when Ale was just 9 years old and Dany 14, back in 2014.

I and many international fans with me discovered the trio years later when they played that same song with Alessia Cara on The Metallica Blacklist tribute album in 2021.

While that song may have opened the doors for them, it was their own songwriting, relentless dedication and unmistakable chemistry that has kept those doors wide open. They have proven that talent, passion and hard work can turn a childhood dream into a full-blown rock reality.

Fast forward to today and The Warning are riding a wave of global success, being currently on a world tour with 50+ dates. They have connected with fans across the Americas, Europe and beyond, earning a reputation as one of the most exciting rock acts around.

A big reason for their success are their live shows. The Warning hits hard live with their infectious energy and genuine connection with the fans. Dany commands the stage like a rock general, Pau attacks the drums with effortless force and Ale delivers thunderous bass lines with her cool aura. They form a tight unit with their razor-sharp musicianship and electric stage presence.

They played their first Swedish show at Sweden Rock last summer to rave reviews, so it was pretty much a given that they would be back very soon, so props to Gröna Lund for making it happen.

At Gröna Lund they turned the amusement park into a full-throttle rock ride from the start, even though it was still full daylight during their show (as Dany noted in bemused wonder when the time was approaching 9pm).

The Stockholm crowd was ready and willing, and the Warning delivered what the fans had come to witness: a set that was louder than the surrounding roller coasters and twice as thrilling.

The crowd consisted of silver-haired rock dudes as well as much younger fans, plus quite a few Mexicans to spice things up. The band pointed out the Mexican flags and gave several shoutouts to Monterrey, rewarding their compatriots with some Spanish bangers like Qué Más Quieres.

Other highlights of the show included MORE and S!CK in the very beginning of the set, as well as Hell You Call a Dream and Kerosene towards the end of the show. The crowd of course welcomed them back for an encore as well, but the 80 minute show still left us all wanting more.

If anyone arrived at the show as a casual listener or just curious to see what the power trio was all about, they most definitely left as a certified member of the Warning Army.
