Korn @ Grönan Live
Gröna LundLilla Allmänna Gränd 9, 115 21 Stockholm, SwedenKORN were pioneers of the nü metal genre when their self-titled album was released in 1994, and the band’s enduring popularity indicates that they started a cultural movement larger than themselves. Since its inception, they have sold over 40 million albums, won two Grammys and toured the world, and now they are finally returning to Grönan.
Like Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock, KORN represents an exciting sub-genre of alternative metal called nü metal (or aggro-metal). The foremost feature of this much debated musical style is that it allows other genres such as hip hop, funk and grunge to influence the otherwise distinct metal sound. During the 2000s, the genre fell into the reputation of many, but with its resurgence in the 2010s via bands like From Ashes to New, Islander and Ded, KORN is once again at the top of the world. The Ringer calls them “a genuine movement in a way bands can’t be now”. We agree.
