Stockholm Dance Schools: a YLC Guide

Get your dance on, Stockholmers! Whether you want to lindy hop, foxtrot or get busy on the barre, the YLC guide will help you find what you are looking for in this city.


Bust a move, cut the rug, shake shimmy and have fun, folks. We will take you through the various schools offering dance classes, and share the details on how, when and where to get your groove on in Stockholm.


Balettakademien Stockholm

Dance Styles: Ballet, jazz, street, ethnic, hip-hop, musical & stage dance

Age/Levels: ages 3-14, 13-19, and 16+

Details: Choose between open classes, single class workshops, 10 session blocks and whole term courses. A “dance card” gives dancers unlimited classes for a term. Class bookings and payments are done online. See website for prices and schedules.

Lasse Kűhlers Dansskola

Dance Styles: Show dance, children’s dance, Lindy hop/ swing, jive, modern jazz, show jazz, ballet

Age/Levels: Children, young people, adults

Details: Drop-in classes (160 kr; cash only): Thursdays – dance fit; Saturdays – jive.  You book your classes online, but once you have paid, there are class substitutions but no refunds.

Danscenter Stockholm

Dance Styles: jazz, modern, kids’, musical, tap, street, African, salsa

Age/Levels: Children, young people, adults

Details: Lunch training times available “lunch card” (1790 kr) – for 1 term (e.g. Sept. – Dec.). Drop-in classes (125 kr) – no previous knowledge of dance required. Choose a dance style and level, and join a class for the term.

Swedish Swing Society

Dance Styles: lindy hop, balboa, tap, jazz & boogie woogie workshops

Age Groups/Levels: From beginners – advanced level

Details: Apply via online registration (higher level courses require an audition).  If you want to cancel your registration, it must be done at least 3 days before the course starts, otherwise no refund.
