Get ready for the wonders of Underverket festival

The Underverket festival on the 30-31 August at Bredäng’s unique Värmeverket venue is bringing afrobeat, hip-hop, R’n’B and DJs, as well as a Ballroom event.

Victony, the Nigerian afrobeat sensation who shot to viral fame with his hit song Soweto, is set to perform at the Underverket Festival in Bredäng on August 30. This festival also features acclaimed artists and DJs like Lady Shaka (UK), hip-hop talent Sarettii, rising R’n’B star Melina Do Rosario, the versatile Bennett brothers in Deki Alem, as well as three dynamic DJs: Etti, Harami, and Nina Michelle. In addition to these stars, the festival will host a Ballroom event judged by 9 experts from around the world.

Afrobeat is a constantly growing genre, and the young star Victony is making waves with his new album following a hiatus due to a severe car accident. His song Soweto went viral thanks to a TikTok dance challenge and was nominated for “Top Afrobeats Song” at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. Victony is now back with an evolved sound, ready to impress the world with his new creations.

Lady Shaka, a trans artist born in New Zealand with roots in the Pacific Islands, Māori, and Cape Verde, is now based in the UK. Her performances are uniquely influenced by her diverse cultural heritage. Sarettii from Hisings Backa has become well-known through several hits that topped the Swedish charts. Grammy-nominated Deki Alem will present “Deki Alem presents UKUB” at the festival, a concept whose details remain a mystery until the event. Melina Do Rosario, who debuted in 2023, has already released several acclaimed songs. DJs Harami and Nina Michelle are known for their innovative and engaging sets in the underground scene, while Etti consistently creates unique dance floor experiences.

The Ballroom event at Underverket will celebrate women’s diversity, queerness, femininity, strength and fashion, with a DJ, MC, and 9 judges from across the globe. Silva Miyake Mugler, the Ballroom organizer, emphasizes the event’s impact on the local and international scene, celebrating community and creativity.

Fares Hamed, festival general and Director of Creative Services at Värmeverket, highlights the festival’s diverse lineup driven by artists’ passion to tell stories and change the world. The festival, held in the unique setting of the old heating plant Värmeverket in Bredäng, promises an extraordinary experience for those seeking to immerse themselves in a creative world far from the mainstream.
