Crispy leaves rustle at our feet and the first fresher winds are announcing that winter is coming soon. Life starts retracting indoors, but not only homewards… This is also a time for indoor music and film festivals, dining out at cozy restaurants or attending fairs like the Baking and Chocolate Fair. Oh yes, this is also the time we like to dress up like ghosts and pumpkins and go trick-or-treating. Let us guide you to some of this months event highlights, things to see and do in Stockholm.

Chelas – There’s a New Mexican in Town
Located at the trendy Hornstull neighbourhood of Södermalm, at Verkstadsgatan 4, you’ll find Chelas, Stockholm’s newest Mexican restaurant. Chelas opened its doors in July of 2019. The name comes from the Mexican slang word for beers and a phrase the Mexicans use when they want to socialise with friends and family: “Saca las chelas”. Literally translated it means “Bring out the beers”, but it can actually be better interpreted as “Let’s have some beers and hang out”.
The wine culture in Sweden is expanding, especially with the increase of vineyards in Skåne in the south of the country. In fact, 42% of all alcohol sales in Sweden consist of wine, and this is very different from brännvin, the traditional Swedish drink that translates as burn-wine. You can of course buy wine from the state owned Systembolaget. However, the only other place that you can buy wine and enjoy a glass is in licenced restaurants and bars that serve food. There are some great restaurants in Stockholm that unite their food and wine menu in perfect harmony, taking equal consideration to both.

STHLM TECH FEST 2019
Gustav Adolfs torg 22, 111 52 Stockholm, SwedenIn 2019, Stockholm’s tech ecosystem continues to grow with more VC funds, more incubators and accelerators, more and much bigger co-working spaces, more startups fundraising, many more new angel investors, and more excitement about the future.
So it’s only natural that STHLM TECH FEST 2019 have more of everything that makes this ecosystem awesome…
Last year the festival had a much loved Job Fair, so this year they’re making it bigger and better with many more categories… Design, Security, Product, A.I., Backend, etc.
Two years ago they also had the Safari, with sold out information-filled networking events all over the city. This year they double the Safari events and host them in better and more central locations like ALMA, WeWork, Hobo Hotel and many more.
This year new addition is a hackathon, but not just any hackathon – The World’s Largest Hackathon for Women at City Hall.
And perhaps best of all, this year SLUSH is bringing their much loved networking and matchmaking system (for the first time anywhere) to STHLM TECH FEST.

Peaches at Stoff-X
Katarina Bangata 77, 116 42 Stockholm, SwedenStockholm Fringe Festival (STOFF-X) in collaboration with Orionteatern and House of Producers (HOP) present: Peaches Christ Superstar – 7th Sept 2019.
One of the world’s most influential female artists at Orionteatern at one of Stockholms’s most exciting stage art venues.
Electro-rock provocateur Peaches performs Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar in a reverent, revelatory one-woman tour-de-force.
An unlikely scenario: the whole of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar performed by one woman accompanied by a single piano. Even more unlikely when that woman is Peaches, the electro-rock provocateuse who has made sexual frankness her calling card.
With extraordinary emotional and dramatic power, Peaches sings each of the nine principal roles. Building on the work’s own brand of subtle subversiveness, Peaches’ tribute to a score she has loved since she was a teenager is a chance to see the star and the musical in an entirely new light.
Peaches Christ Superstar with Peaches
Piano: Mathias Susaas Halvorsen
Light: Roz Malyon
