Stockholm’s Top 6 Picnic Locations

As soon as the winter is over, Stockholmers head to the outdoors looking for a place in the sun for one of their most beloved activities, enjoying a good picnic.

Stockholm offers an array of green areas where you can gather friends and family for a picnic, but you do need to know where to go. So here are Stockholm’s top 6 picnic locations.

Best parks to enjoy a day out in Stockholm

Skinnarviksberget

This rocky hill has perhaps the most stunning views of all our picnic locations. From here you can gaze towards Gamla Stan, The City Hall and Kungsholmen. Getting here is not easy, but it’s well worth it.

Berzelii Park

Surrounded by fantastic architecture, this small park serves as an oasis in central Stockholm. Don’t be surprised if you find people in office attire coming here for a pleasant afterwork picnic with their work colleagues.

Djurgården

Beside lots of green areas where you can place your picnic blanket, here you will find yourself surrounded with nature and water. How about combining an afternoon picnic with a visit to one of the many museums on this small island, like the Nordic Museum?

Humlegården

This park in Östermalm is just as big as it is beautiful. Its tall trees surround the Royal Library. It is the perfect spot to bring the family, have a barbecue and let the kids have fun at the playground.

Rålambshovsparken

You will hardly find another picnic location that offers as many possibilities for fun as this fantastic park in Kungsholmen. Here you are close to the water and beautiful views of the city, but there is also a playground, a restaurant and bar, an outdoor gym, a skate park and other areas where you can stay active with sports.

Tantolunden

Södermalm’s prime picnic spot has a beach, which gets pretty popular during the warmer days of the year when kids and grown-ups come down for a swim. Add a barbecue to your picnic and play some mini golf or dip your toes in the sand and sunbathe – all in the same spot.
