Welcome to an exciting evening exploring the world of Burning Man and how the Burning Man movement is has become a hotbed for digital innovation.
“A playground for Innovation” strives to make the connection between Burning Man and startup culture. On Monday, you will get to meet the long time "burner" and initiator of the Burning Man Week, Gustaf Josefsson, along with Ola Ahlvarsson, long time entrepreneur who just found his way to Burning Man.
On March 1-7, the Burning Man Week Stockholm happens in town, with 200 leaders from the Burning Man community visiting Stockholm. This is an attemt to bring together the burners and the startup people of Stockholm, under one roof.
The evening will celebrate the 10 principles of Burning Man, the values on which the event is built. The evening, the bar and the knowledge is a gift. What they ask from you is to bring your own gift to the community: Some candy? An amazing outfit? A piece of art? A lovely hug, or maybe a good advice of a book they should read? What would you like to share?
Burning Man, a participatory festival with 70 000 people in the Northern Nevada desert, have long been the secret creative backyard of Silicon Valley. It is a temporary city, completely built by the participants, on their own initiative, an experimental playground for art, technology, design and community.
Many of the big name startup founders spend their Labor Day weekends there, and some even send their employees out to the event to prototype new technologies and explore new ways of collaboration.
If Stockholm strives to be the “Silicon Valley of Europe”, isn’t it time we get our own Burning Man?
