Måneskin rock the Lolla stage – and look good doing it

Since Italian rockers Måneskin won the Eurovision Song Contest last year, they have been taking over the world with their unbridled rock energy – performing on late night shows, ruling TikTok and playing to huge crowds at rock festivals. They also came to Lollapalooza Stockholm, bringing their total rock’n’roll spirit and the style to match it.

Never mind that the sun is blasting and the temperatures are close to 30 °C, Måneskin wear their leather outfits to great effect. The band is known for always dressing to impress for their performances, but they are definitely much more than just the pretty surface. They have the substance in their music and the raw rock energy in their performance. Plus they really give their everything up on that stage.

The charismatic singer Damiano David struts around the stage like a proper rock god of decades past, keeping the audience’s full attention on everything he does. In the meanwhile Victoria De Angelis on the bass, Thomas Raggi on the guitar and Ethan Torchio on the drums keep the rhythm tight and the riffs rocking.

At times the band has the audience pretty much eating out of their hand, which is most evident when Damiano asks the crowd to get down on their knees and then jump like crazy. The crowd also eagerly joins in for a sing-a-long, especially for the huge hit song I Wanna Be Your Slave.

Towards the end it gets slightly chaotic, when Damiano gets down from the stage to meet the audience, and the Thomas somehow disappears in the crowd for a long while. At the end, for Lividi Sui Gomiti, the band brings a big group of fans up on stage with them, for a climactic and euphoric end for the show.
