The annual celebration of Crown Princess Victoria’s name day took place on 12th March in Stockholm, continuing a popular royal tradition. Members of the public were once again able to gather in the inner courtyard of teh Royal Castle to congratulate the Crown Princess.
As Victoria’s birthday celebrations are always held on the island of Öland, the name day is the main annual opportunitu for the Stockholm people to see and greet the future queen. The ceremony being open to the public reinforces the close relationship the Swedish royals have with the citizens.
The name day celebration has been organised in cooperation with the Swedish armed forces since the early 1990s, and the ceremony typically includes guards and military bands. The 2026 celebration combined traditions, public participation and national pride.
