In mid-August in connection with the midnight race, Södermalm Music Association organizes Nytorgsfesten 2017.
The Nytorgsfesten was organized for the first time 1995 – 1997 at Nytorget with over 25,000 visitors. Then wit was moved to Riddarholmen 2001 – 2004 thereafter to Skeppsholmen 2011.
This year it returns to Nytorget and have extended the festival area to nearby streets where there will be offered music, food experiences, flea market, art, yoga in the park, fun fair, and more.

Finland’s 100 years of independence are celebrated in the middle of the city with a big festival in Kungsträdgården. Music, food, fashion, exhibitions and discussions with a Finnish theme will fill the park for three days.
Especially the musical artists are worth checking out, as STHLM/SUOMI brings out some of the very best Finland and Sweden-Finns have to offer right now. Be sure not to miss ALMA, who is on the brink of an international breakthough, or Krista Siegfrids, who you will already know from her Melodifestivalen entries. Then there’s the world-class acapella stylings of FORK, who put their own twist on the best international pop and rock tunes. And the charming Darya & Månskensorkestern, who take you back in time with their original songs and Finnish tango classics. Oh, and all the young girls will love Finland’s answer to Bieber, Isac Elliot. And there’s Sweden-Finnish stars like Anna Järvinen and Iiris Viljanen. And so much more…
