Formex returned to Stockholmsmässan in Stockholm from August 25 to 27, 2026, bringing the Nordic interior and design industry together for three days of inspiration, business, new products, and creative encounters.
Founded in 1960, Formex has developed into the Nordic region’s leading trade marketplace for interior design. Held twice a year, the fair brings together buyers, designers, architects, stylists, producers, agents, retailers, and media representatives from Sweden and abroad.
The August edition offered a broad look at what is shaping contemporary Nordic interiors, from furniture and home accessories to crafts, textiles, gifts, children’s products, and lifestyle concepts.
Celebrating Traditions
One of the central themes of the August fair was a renewed interest in authenticity, craftsmanship, and objects with a personal story.
The Formex Trends presentation for autumn and winter 2026 explored this direction through the theme “Celebrate Traditions.” Developed with trend expert Elin Frendberg, the concept reflected a growing desire to move away from digital uniformity and towards interiors that feel more individual, emotional, and connected to personal history.
The entrance area continued this exploration with a winter-inspired installation created in collaboration with designer Eva Andersson, transforming the arrival at Formex into an immersive seasonal environment.
Sustainability also remained an important part of the fair. The Sustainability Stand returned for its third edition, presenting selected companies and products within a stand itself designed around reuse and circular thinking.
Discovering Tomorrow’s Designers
Design Talents once again provided one of Formex’s most interesting platforms. Since its creation in 2008, the initiative has given emerging designers an opportunity to introduce their work directly to buyers, producers, media, and other professionals.
The August 2026 selection demonstrated the diversity of contemporary Nordic creativity, with projects ranging from furniture and lighting to ceramics, jewellery, textiles, and handcrafted objects. Innovation, craftsmanship, and sustainability were recurring themes throughout the area.
The fair also combined exhibitions with a busy program of talks and industry conversations. Subjects ranged from upcoming interior trends and changing consumer behaviour to lighting, craftsmanship, and creating homes with greater personality and meaning.
Formex Returns in January 2027
Following the August edition, attention now turns towards the next Formex, taking place January 19 to 21, 2027 at Stockholmsmässan in Stockholm.
The January fair will once again welcome national and international brands alongside buyers, designers, retailers, architects, and other industry professionals for the first major Formex gathering of the new year.
Visitors can expect new product launches, emerging designers, exhibitions, trend insights, talks, and opportunities to discover the ideas that will influence interiors and lifestyle in the seasons ahead.
With more than six decades of history and two editions every year, Formex continues to evolve alongside the Nordic design industry. The August 2026 edition highlighted a return to craftsmanship, individuality, and meaningful design.
