Hunkydory empowering women at Stockholm Fashion Week AW17

Hunkydory is one of our favourite fashion houses in Stockholm, they reinvent themselves with every collection and know what’s next without loosing their identity and their goal… To dress women with power and with attitude.

We saw the launch of their Autumn Winter collection for 2017 at Berns last Sunday, presented to a packed audience that included influencers, bloggers as well as some celebrities.

And what we saw was absolutely incredible, better than their previous collections, if I may give my own point of view. Even though they always impress me, the AW17 launches a Hunkydory that looks stronger than ever.

But what did we see? We saw the short trousers that have taken the runways by storm since AW16. The short trousers are here to kick the leggings out of your wardrobe and Hunkydory has done their take on the short trousers by having the front part of them shorter than the back. I haven’t seen that before, but I liked it!

We saw sexy transparency in tops, tights and stockings, as well as raunchy jaguar prints in leather-like trousers and coats… and some velvet textures, which are making a comeback after we stopped seeing them a few seasons ago.

Perhaps you’ll be happy to hear that oversized jumpers and fluffy coats, or fluffy furry details, are still in for the AW17 season. Good enough to keep us warm when we cannot be bothered to use those sexy transparent outfits.

The spaghetti strap, single-coloured top on top of white shirts and tops were present as well. Oh and check out the mini skirts and the extra long shirt sleeves! Totally feminine and powerful.

Another special detail to put attention to, as you will be seeing it around also being proposed by other fashion design houses during this season, are the Military and Hussar Military jackets and coats. These were probably our favourite pieces of the whole collection.

One more piece that I’m glad to see making a return is the single sleeve. Hunkydory is launching a couple of dresses like this and we were much in love with the fringed velvet dresses, a style that just screams Rock n’Roll, together with the leather trousers that characterise Hunkydory.

Hunkydory‘s AW is an ode to Rock n’ Roll icons, or as described by the label itself in one of their latest Instagram posts from this fashion show: “A group of teenagers at an after party, digging into the wardrobe of an eccentric ’70s rockstar.” Here I’m thinking Debbie Harry from Blondie, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Nicks and Mick Jagger.
