What to do and where to go with children in Stockholm: March

Spring has sprung and Stockholm has more on offer for children than ever! We will have a special feature for Påsklov (Easter break) but these are all fun things to do throughout March apart from then, including a pancake party, owl spotting and family art tours.

Opening Party at Pannkakshuset

We celebrate the opening of our exciting new pancake house with pannkakstallrik, crêpes, galettes and vegan waffles including accessories and drink for 20 SEK! We bake our goods fresh every day and always use organic ingredients without any additives. For the opening party, we have a playroom, puzzles, balloons and questionnaire survey with great prizes and stroller parking. Welcome!

‘Everyday Hassles’: Exhibition at Dieselverkstaden

Everyday entanglement is an interactive play exhibition for the senses, created entirely from a small child’s perspective. Here, children and adults can explore together three little fun ‘everyday worlds’ and build castles from fish fingers, play peekaboo with pot lids, listen to the whispering cleaner chants, whirl in a giddy dance washing machine and play in your own kitchen orchestra.. The exhibition is based on Annika Thore illustrations of everyday clutter and home piles; this is now brought to life with lots of room to play!

When: From March 23rd to April 29th: Opening at 14:00 on Saturday 23rd March

Mondays to Fridays: 10:00 – 19:00

Saturdays: 11:00 – 17:00

Sun 12:00 – 17:00

Paper Crafting at Stockholm City Library

Once a month, Letty Serrano shows how you can make your own cards, boxes and envelopes and more from recycled paper materials. No registration necessary. Themes: 2nd March – Sportlov special; 16th March – Paper Birds

World Water Day at the Maritime Museum

World Water Day is celebrated worldwide; this year, the theme is “International Water Cooperation”. At the Maritime Museum, we will have a program for all ages.

When: Sunday 24th March from 11:00 to 16:00

Where: Sjöhistoriska Museet, Djurgårdsbrunnsvägen 24 115 27 Stockholm (Best way of getting here is via bus 69)

Age group: suitable for all ages

Cost: Free admission for all.

Media Course at Tekniska Museet

Join us in making a television program and try to broadcast radio! We will work as a media newsrooms, participants will be free to design productions. As instructors, we have the museum experienced media educators. It will be an exciting and fun day where participants will get a lot of new knowledge and skills.

When: Saturday 16 March for 10-12 year olds; Saturday 23 March for 13-16 year olds from 10:00 to 15:00

Owls at Häringe Castle

When dusk falls, the owls comes out and if you’re lucky, you get to hear their siren calls in the night. Isaac Isaksson, naturalist, leads this evening hike in the nature reserve Häringe-Hammersta. Dress extra warm, take your sittunderlägg and a flashlight / headlamp if you have them. And don’t forget to bring dinner and with a hot drink!

When: Thursday 7th March at 17:00 (The trip is about 6 miles and takes about 3.5 hours.)

Where: 

Meet at 17:00 at Häringe grindar (bus 847 goes at 16:44 from Västerhaninge stn towards Osmo at 16:44).

Leave Häringe grindar at 20.30 (bus 847 about 20:31 to Västerhaninge stn 20:48).

Family Saturday at the Medieval Museum: Gods & Heroes theme

Join us for an exciting family tour of the ancient gods and heroes, looking at their adventures. Hear about the wily Odysseus, hunting goddess Artemis and king of the gods Zeus. Inspired by what we have seen and heard, we will create scary or beautiful masks.

When: Saturdays from 9th March to 1st June from 13:00 to 16:00

For one hour, we go on a playful exploration of the art gallery and get to know some of the works in the exhibition.
