It is happening again! Stockholm International Film Festival 2022 is around the corner

Twelve days of 130 films from 60 countries, in both cinemas and digitally via Festival on Demand. Stockholm International Film Festival’s 33rd edition will be held 9-20 November 2022. It promises to be a grand festival with screenings, award ceremonies, seminars and meetings with international actors and directors.

Tickets are on presale for the first three films in this year’s program – Boy from HeavenBroker and Robe of GemsTarek Saleh‘s Boy from Heaven, which won both The Screenplay Prize and the Prix François Chalais in Cannes 2022, will inaugurate this year’s Stockholm International Film Festival 2022.

Broker is the Japanese Palme d’Or winner Hirokatzu Kore-Eda‘s first Korean language film. As usual, Kore-eda, using charm as a tool, touches on sensitive topics such as belonging, ethics and love for the chosen family.

Full program will be released the 13th of October.

What’s new

In collaboration with Nikon, the Stockholm International Film Festival has launched the new prize Nikon Short Film Award. An award founded to encourage filmmakers all over Europe to use their creativity and imagination to create the best possible short film in a maximum of 60 seconds. The winning entry will be shown at the festival and the winner will also receive a Nikon Z Series Mirrorless Camera and Lens of their choice to encourage the creation of the next short film.

– We believe that this short format can make more people dare to make films, says Beatrice Karlsson, the Stockholm International Film Festival’s Program Director.

This year’s festival center will be at Kulturhuset in Stockholm, floor 2.

Also, the number of cinemas screening festival films has increased to a total of six, to accommodate Stockholm Film Festival’s hard-to-beat program selection.
