The camera as a political weapon
    – Jacob Riis Micke Berg

CFF’s historical photo series continues this semester with invited journalist / photographer Lars Epstein and artist Henrik Teleman talking about different forms of photography – in the past and in today’s historical reality.

Epstein, passionate photo book collectors, DN photographer for 25 years and frequent blogger, explains and shows pictures from his vast collection of photography books; including police reporter Jacob Riis’s “The Camera As A Political Weapon”, which depicts the slums of lower Manhattan in New York in the late 1880s; opening the eyes of leading politicians and so leading to the area being cleaned up and decent housing built.

Steele has been called Sweden’s dark princess of pop and her sound is progressive with lots of beats and post-rock influences. In her own words she describes her work as a cinema show, but with music.

She recently released her second EP Hiraeth and made an impression on us at her release party. Now you can catch her at Kåken.

Check out the video profile we did on her recently.
